The “AI+Sustainability — Marie Curie Scholars Special Session” was successfully held from 23–26 June 2026 in Changsha, China, as an official thematic track of the 2026 AsiaCity2050 International Conference. Co-organized with the MSCA Alumni Association (MCAA) China Chapter and hosted by leading regional academic institutions—including Hunan University, Central South University, and Changsha University of Science & Technology—the session provided a valuable platform for exploring AI-driven solutions for smart cities, low-carbon environments, and sustainable energy.
The event brought together global experts and a distinguished network of Marie Skłodowska-Curie alumni to exchange cutting-edge insights and foster international scientific cooperation. The primary focus of MSCA-GLOPOL’s contribution was to present the opportunities available under Horizon Europe, with particular emphasis on the MSCA Doctoral Networks (DN) and Staff Exchanges (SE) schemes. The presentation delivered by Dr. Karlis Rokpelnis (China Regional Liaison Officer) was specifically tailored to MSCA alumni who have successfully transitioned into faculty and leadership positions within Chinese institutions. It encouraged participants to build on their MSCA experience to establish larger institutional research partnerships between Europe and China. By explaining the participation opportunities for Chinese organisations as Associated Partners and highlighting the knowledge transfer mechanisms available under MSCA, the session helped stimulate new avenues for EU–China research collaboration.
