On 27 May 2026, the GLOPOL-MSCA project organised a webinar aimed at institutions from Argentina and other countries that receive automatic funding from the European Commission in the framework of Horizon Europe in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The event brought together participants from universities, research centres, and private sector organisations to explore the strategic opportunities offered by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks (MSCA DN) under Horizon Europe. Delivered in Spanish, the webinar combined a technical presentation on eligibility and funding rules by Paula Brennan (MSCA National Contact Point, SICyT, Argentina) with a firsthand testimonial from Leonardo M. Díaz Nieto, researcher at the Institute and Museum of Natural Sciences, National University of San Juan (UNSJ), and PI of the MSCA DN project Natural Traces, which focuses on forensic investigations through the analysis of non-human evidence. The participation of the Universidad Nacional de Jujuy (UNJU) in the same network was also highlighted, as it hosts a PhD student secondment.
It is worth emphasising that the MSCA DN call is open to all institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean: any LAC entity can join a European consortium as a partner and take part in international doctoral training. Furthermore, the vast majority of countries in the region share the same eligibility conditions and automatic funding from the European Commission as Argentina: all LAC countries, except the Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay, stand on equal footing with European partners in terms of rights and funding within a project.

Argentina already has 6 institutions participating in 3 MSCA Doctoral Networks under Horizon Europe, of which 2 are full beneficiaries and 1 is a private sector company, demonstrating the growing engagement of the Argentine research ecosystem with European scientific cooperation.
