The MSCA Doctoral Networks Webinar for Institutions from Egypt was successfully held online on 28 June 2026, bringing together representatives from 20 different Egyptian organisations to explore opportunities under the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The event was jointly organised by the MSCA-GLOPOL project, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) of Egypt and the EU Liaison Office Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Egypt.
The 90-minute webinar aimed to strengthen the participation of Egyptian academic and non-academic institutions in the MSCA Doctoral Networks 2026 Call by increasing institutional awareness, improving understanding of the programme and its participation rules, and encouraging the development of new international partnerships and future proposal submissions. Participants received an overview of Horizon Europe opportunities and detailed guidance on the MSCA Doctoral Networks scheme, including eligibility conditions, proposal preparation, consortium building, and institutional readiness. A highlight of the programme was the experience-sharing session delivered by Prof. Dr. Halil Mecit Oztop, coordinator of an MSCA Doctoral Networks project from Middle East Technical University in Turkiye (funded under the 2025 call), who personally led the preparation of the successful proposal. His first-hand experience generated considerable interest among participants, particularly during the discussion on the characteristics of successful proposals, the added value of non-academic partners, and the administrative and institutional preparations required before joining or coordinating an MSCA Doctoral Networks project. The event successfully achieved its objective of strengthening institutional engagement with the programme and laying the foundations for increased Egyptian participation in future MSCA Doctoral Networks proposals.
