The GLOPOL-MSCA project delivered the session “Opportunities through Horizon Europe Pillar I at the University of Auckland” on 26 March 2026, bringing together researchers, research support staff, and institutional representatives to explore funding opportunities under Horizon Europe’s excellence-driven Pillar I. The session provided a focused overview of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), with particular attention to the Staff Exchanges and Doctoral Networks schemes, highlighting their relevance for institutions in New Zealand. Participants engaged actively in discussions on participation modalities for third countries, with a strong interest in understanding eligibility conditions and funding mechanisms.
Through practical guidance and targeted examples, attendees gained valuable insights into how MSCA can support international mobility, structured doctoral training, and inter-sectoral collaboration. The session also highlighted how the University of Auckland’s existing experience in Horizon Europe Pillar II projects can be strategically leveraged to strengthen participation in Pillar I, particularly in building competitive consortia and fostering long-term collaboration with European partners.
