The Horizon Europe MSCA Info Day with a Focus on Staff Exchanges Call for Algeria, Jordan, Morocco was successfully held online on 18 March 2026, bringing together a diverse audience from academic and non-academic sectors to explore funding opportunities under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The event recorded 760 registrations and 419 attendees, reflecting strong interest across the region. Organised by the MSCA-GLOPOL project funded by the European Commission, the Info Day attracted participants from universities, research organisations, public institutions, and private-sector stakeholders. It aimed to raise awareness of MSCA opportunities, with a particular focus on the Staff Exchanges (SE) scheme, while also providing an overview of other programmes such as Doctoral Networks, Postdoctoral Fellowships, and COFUND.
The event featured high-level speakers and experts, including Dr. Ahmed Maalel (MSCA-GLOPOL Regional Liaison Officer), who introduced Horizon Europe and MSCA opportunities, and Cristina Gómez (MSCA-GLOPOL Promotion Work Package Leader), who delivered in-depth sessions on the Staff Exchanges call, proposal preparation, and partner search strategies. Opening and closing remarks, as well as national perspectives, were provided by MSCA National Contact Points and representatives from ministries, including Eng. Omaymah Bany Salman (Jordan), Ms. Karima Selmaoui (Morocco), and Ms. Samira Chader (Algeria). The programme was further enriched by contributions from the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), represented by Precious Ekwere (Africa Chapter Chair) and Abolfazl Mehbodniya (Middle East Chapter Chair), who shared community activities and engagement opportunities.
Through a combination of policy insights, practical guidance, and success stories, participants gained valuable knowledge on proposal submission, evaluation criteria, and international partnership building. The event served as a key capacity-building initiative, fostering stronger engagement with MSCA and supporting the integration of Algeria, Jordan, and Morocco into the European Research Area.
