On 28 September 2026, the Embassy of France in Australia, in collaboration with Science and Technology Australia, organised the online webinar “Horizon Europe for Australian Researchers”. The event brought together researchers, research managers and institutional representatives to examine Australia’s participation in Horizon Europe from 2027.
As part of the programme, the MSCA-GLOPOL project delivered a dedicated session on Pillar I opportunities for Australian researchers. The session provided a focused overview of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, with particular attention to Doctoral Networks, Postdoctoral Fellowships and Staff Exchanges. It highlighted how these actions can support structured doctoral training, joint PhD arrangements, international researcher mobility, career development, staff secondments and knowledge exchange between Australian and European organisations.
Participants also received practical guidance on the participation of Australian institutions as organisations from a non-associated third country, including action-specific eligibility and funding conditions.
Dr Sónia Troeira Henriques shared her first-hand experience as an MSCA Global Postdoctoral Fellow and her subsequent involvement in an MSCA Staff Exchanges project, illustrating how engagement with MSCA can develop from individual researcher mobility into broader institutional collaboration.
Overall, the session increased awareness of concrete MSCA entry points and reinforced the importance of early engagement with European partners and institutional support for joint supervision, mobility management and long-term research partnerships.
