Korean research community explores MSCA opportunities through online information session

On 12 May 2026, the online event “MSCA Webinar for Korea” successfully brought together Korean universities, research institutions, research support stakeholders and researchers interested in strengthening cooperation with Europe through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The webinar was jointly organised by the Korea-EU Research Centre (KERC), the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF HE Team) and the MSCA-GLOPOL Project.

The webinar introduced key opportunities offered under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and provided practical guidance on how Korean researchers, universities, and research institutions can engage more effectively with MSCA schemes. Organised within the framework of the MSCA-GLOPOL Project, the event aimed to strengthen awareness of MSCA as a tool for international research collaboration, researcher mobility, institutional networking, and long-term cooperation between Korea and Europe.

Participants received practical information on MSCA participation opportunities, available support mechanisms, and the broader benefits of international collaboration in strengthening research excellence and sustainable partnerships between European and Korean institutions.

A particular focus was placed on experience-based learning and practical participation insights. Through contributions shared by researchers and institutions already involved in MSCA-funded projects, participants gained a better understanding of application strategies, project preparation processes, implementation challenges, and lessons learned from successful participation. These exchanges provided valuable first-hand perspectives on the impact of MSCA projects in fostering international cooperation and research capacity building.

The event contributed to the broader objectives of the MSCA-GLOPOL Project by supporting stronger global engagement with MSCA and encouraging more Korean stakeholders to explore concrete pathways for cooperation with European partners and the European Research Area.

The presentations delivered are:

  • Dr. Tomasz Wierzbowski, MSCA-GLOPOL Korea Liaison Officer (the presentation is here)
  • Dr. Corina Barna, MSCA National Contact Point
