On 20 May 2026, an online Info Day dedicated to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) was successfully organised to support and strengthen Algeria’s participation in Horizon Europe, with a particular focus on the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) scheme. The event attracted significant interest from the Algerian research and higher education community, gathering 230 attendees out of 592 registered participants, including researchers, PhD holders, universities, public administrations, and representatives from both academic and non-academic organisations.
The webinar featured presentations from Stephanie DEMART from Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of European Commission; Leila TRIKI and Samira CHADER from the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Ahmed MAALEL in his capacity as Regional Liaison Officer (RLO) at MSCA-GLOPOL Project.
The main objective of the Info Day was to raise awareness among Algerian stakeholders about the opportunities offered by the MSCA programme, which remains relatively new to many institutions and organisations within the national research and innovation ecosystem.
The programme provided participants with:
- an overview of the MSCA programme and its different funding schemes,
- detailed information on the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships,
- guidance on participation opportunities and application procedures,
- explanations of funding mechanisms under Horizon Europe,
- and insights into the benefits of international research mobility and collaboration.
Dedicated specifically to Algerian researchers and PhD holders, the event enhanced participants’ understanding of how to engage in European research and innovation programmes and highlighted the strategic importance of international cooperation, researcher career development, and institutional capacity building.
Overall, the Info Day represented an important step towards increasing Algeria’s participation in MSCA initiatives and strengthening collaboration with European and international research partners.
