Great news for Brazilian research institutions! The Brazilian National Council of State Funding Agencies (CONFAP) has published a new call to support Brazilian entities participating in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges 2026 call.
Participating Brazilian State Research Foundations
Ten Brazilian State Research Foundations (FAPs), in cooperation with CONFAP, will top up research and innovation organisations in their respective states that are part of selected MSCA Staff Exchanges projects, enabling them to carry out joint research projects with European and international partners:
- Fundação Araucária – Paraná
- FACEPE – Pernambuco
- FAPEAM – Amazonas
- FAPEG – Goiás
- FAPEPI – Piauí
- FAPES – Espírito Santo
- FAPESB – Bahia
- FAPESC – Santa Catarina
- FAPESP – São Paulo
- FAPESPA – Pará
What does the co-funding cover?
The co-funding will allow Brazilian organisations to second their staff to European research organisations for training, skills and career development, and knowledge sharing. The scheme will promote mobility of researchers in both directions, creating a balanced flow of exchanges. This strengthens research ties between Europe and Brazil and drives forward scientific and technological progress by enhancing long-term bilateral institutional cooperation and collaborative research.
How to apply
Eligible consortia of organisations, including the Brazilian organisations, must submit their project proposals to the EU MSCA SE call by 16 April 2026 through the European Commission’s Funding & Tenders Portal.
Important: To be eligible for the co-funding, the representatives of Brazilian organisations in these proposals must also submit a summarised proposal to their respective FAP. Applicants from Brazil should refer to the FAP in their state participating in the call to check their eligibility.
Brazil’s success in MSCA Staff Exchanges
Brazil is one of the most successful non-EU countries in terms of participation in MSCA Staff Exchanges calls, demonstrating the strong research collaboration between Brazilian and European institutions.
